Unveiling

Right off let me say that this is not intended to be teaching – it is simply where I am at.

……………………………………………………………………….

Rev 17:1  Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters,
Rev 17:2  with whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and with the wine of whose sexual immorality the dwellers on earth have become drunk.”
Rev 17:3  And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.
Rev 17:4  The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.
Rev 17:5  And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.”
Rev 17:6  And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I marveled greatly.
Rev 17:7  But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her.
Rev 17:8  The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.
Rev 17:9  This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated;
Rev 17:10  they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.
Rev 17:11  As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction.
Rev 17:12  And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast.
Rev 17:13  These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast.
Rev 17:14  They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”
Rev 17:15  And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages.
Rev 17:16  And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire,
Rev 17:17  for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.
Rev 17:18  And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.”

The first thing I notice is this:-

Rev 17:8  The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise

At the time this prophecy was given, the beast “was not”. However:-

Rev 17:8  The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come

The imperative question is therefore, is the beast here yet?

Rev 17:10  they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.

From “when he does come he must remain only a little while” I would conclude that the final beast is not actually here…yet.

The reason I am talking about a “final” beast is because the vision is all about the JUDGEMENT of mystery babylon and that judgement does not occur until the time of the end, when she is riding the final version of the beast, the “eighth” who is of the seven.

Let’s just emphasize this point

Rev 17:1  Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters,
Rev 17:8  The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction.

John is seeing the beast at the time of the judgement of the whore, when the beast that was, and is not, shall have come

Now it starts to make sense. At the time of the prophecy, the beast “was not” BUT the beast John is seeing in the revelation is the beast that is to come. Once you clearly see this, everything falls into place.

I believe the beast is here described:-

Dan 8:21  And the goat is the king of Greece. And the great horn between his eyes is the first king.
Dan 8:22  As for the horn that was broken, in place of which four others arose, four kingdoms shall arise from his nation, but not with his power.
Dan 8:23  And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their limit, a king of bold face, one who understands riddles, shall arise.

It is the resurgence of the Seleucid Empire that arose after Alexander – “the latter end of their kingdom”,

Rev 17:8  The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.

Rome was the sixth king – “one is”. The revelation was given when the Kingdom of Rome was, “one is”.

Rev 17:10  they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.

That’s a whole lot clearer, is it not?

Now,

Rev 17:10  they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.

Rev 17:11  As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction.

The seventh King is still to come (at the time of writing, that is) and the beast is an eighth but belongs to the seven

Rev 13:11  Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.
Rev 13:12  It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed.

The seventh King, is this the second beast of Rev 13? “two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. “
Is this seventh King the false prophet. Let us remember, the Lord Jesus is the last King who was also a Prophet. Therefore, the Seventh King, will he not also pretend to be a prophet?

……………..

Ok, so far, so good. Now, what does this mean about our understanding of mystery babylon.Well,

Rev 17:3  And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.

Rev 17:12  And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast.

Rev 17:16  And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire,
Rev 17:17  for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled

When the final beast arrives, at some point the ten kings give their royal power to the beast and that is the end of mystery babylon.

So…….Is mystery babylon actually present today?

Rev 17:9  This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated;
Rev 17:10  they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.Rev
17:11  As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction

It appears that the answer is  … Yes. The “one is” head, Rome, is still with us, though now reduced to the feet of iron and clay as in Daniel 2.

The “beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven”. The beast the whore rides has existed at least since babylon. This beast has seven heads. The final beast that is to come, that was,and is not, is of the seven heads/mountains/kings (Greece was one of the seven  heads). It will reappear, therefore it is an eighth but on account of it having existed before, it belongs to the seven. Sorted!!!

So, we have a seventh King to come and the final beast kingdom, which is here described:-

Ten

Gen 15:18  On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,
Gen 15:19  the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,
Gen 15:20  the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,
Gen 15:21  the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”

Here we should stop – selah – let us consider. Abram rescues his kinsman Lot:-

Gen 14:14  When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
Gen 14:16  Then he brought back all the possessions, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his possessions, and the women and the people.

Then the land of the Ten is given to Abram by covenant:-

Gen 15:18  On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates……

Later, the Ten enemies of the promised/covenant land are mentioned as “the strong arm of the children of Lot.”
Ten enemies make a covenant against the promised land:-

Psa 83:5  For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant
Psa 83:6  the tents of Edom and the IshmaelitesMoab and the Hagrites,
Psa 83:7  Gebal and Ammon and AmalekPhilistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Psa 83:8  Asshur also has joined them; they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah

……………………………..

Dan 7:7  After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.
Dan 7:8  I considered the horns, and behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Ten toes (presumably):-
Dan 2:41  And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom, but some of the firmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the soft clay.
Dan 2:42  And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle.
Dan 2:43  As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay.
Dan 2:44  And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,

Rev 13:1  And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads.

Rev 17:8  The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.
Rev 17:9  This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated;

Daniel 8 – 2,300 evenings and mornings

This is a very exploratory post. This is the first time I am using the accepted meaning of letters. It may also strike the reader as overly subjective.

Pro 30:6  Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

In the light of the scripture above, the accepted meaning of letters, as employed below, is purely an intellectual pursuit on my part. While it is interesting, please attach no weight to what appears.
…………………………………………………………………….
I am looking at Daniel 8:9-14.
Dan 8:8  Then the goat became exceedingly great, but when he was strong, the great horn was broken, and instead of it there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven.

Dan 8:9  Out of one of them came a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land.
Dan 8:10  It grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them.
Dan 8:11  It became great, even as great as the Prince of the host. And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown.
Dan 8:12  And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression, and it will throw truth to the ground, and it will act and prosper.
Dan 8:13  Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one who spoke, “For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?”
Dan 8:14  And he said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.”
This section deals with the latter days as the explanation given by the angel shows (the italics show the end of the historical, Seleucid, section):-

So, looking at the gematria for Daniel 8:9-14 we see a triple 7 letter occurrance. (highlighted in red in the data below).
As seen in a previous post, the whole actual vision itself, from Daniel 8:3-14 has 777 letters (with 70 and 66 letters comprising the introduction of Daniel 8:1-2).
Let’s take a look at these 3 letters:-

ח         heth   8   courtyard
ם        mem 40   water
ן          nun 50   snake naschish
I have included the accepted meanings for the letters as well.
1.
We have a courtyard with a snake.
Dan 8:10  It grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them.
Dan 8:11  It became great, even as great as the Prince of the host. And the regular (burnt offering) was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown.
(“burnt offering” is in brackets as this is a common insertion by translators – it is not actually in the text).
2.
We have water (Ulai canal) which I think symbolizes… time:-
Water:-
Dan 8:2  And I saw in the vision; and when I saw, I was in Susa the capital, which is in the province of Elam. And I saw in the vision, and I was at the Ulai canal.
Dan 8:16  And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, and it called, “Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.”
Time:-
Dan 8:14  And he said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.”
Dan 8:26  The vision of the evenings and the mornings that has been told is true, but seal up the vision, for it refers to many days from now.”
The idea of water flowing being connected with time is something we understand even in our culture today, just as in time past:-
Son 8:7  Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, he would be utterly despised.

Haggai III

Hag 2:1  In the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by the hand of Haggai the prophet,
Hag 2:2  “Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to all the remnant of the people, and say,
Hag 2:3  ‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Is it not as nothing in your eyes?
Hag 2:4  Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work, for I am with you, declares the LORD of hosts,
Hag 2:5  according to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not.
Hag 2:6  For thus says the LORD of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land.
Hag 2:7  And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.
Hag 2:8  The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the LORD of hosts.
Hag 2:9  The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the LORD of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the LORD of hosts.'”
Hag 2:10  On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet,
Hag 2:11  “Thus says the LORD of hosts: Ask the priests about the law:
Hag 2:12  ‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment and touches with his fold bread or stew or wine or oil or any kind of food, does it become holy?'” The priests answered and said, “No.”
Hag 2:13  Then Haggai said, “If someone who is unclean by contact with a dead body touches any of these, does it become unclean?” The priests answered and said, “It does become unclean.”
Hag 2:14  Then Haggai answered and said, “So is it with this people, and with this nation before me, declares the LORD, and so with every work of their hands. And what they offer there is unclean.
Hag 2:15  Now then, consider from this day onward. Before stone was placed upon stone in the temple of the LORD,
Hag 2:16  how did you fare? When one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were but ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw fifty measures, there were but twenty.
Hag 2:17  I struck you and all the products of your toil with blight and with mildew and with hail, yet you did not turn to me, declares the LORD.
Hag 2:18  Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid, consider:
Hag 2:19  Is the seed yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.”
Hag 2:20  The word of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month,
Hag 2:21  “Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I am about to shake the heavens and the earth,
Hag 2:22  and to overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I am about to destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, and overthrow the chariots and their riders. And the horses and their riders shall go down, every one by the sword of his brother.
Hag 2:23  On that day, declares the LORD of hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of hosts.”

…………………

“the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month” was December 18th, 520 B.C according to the N.L.T

The date is mentioned 3 times and 3 times we are told to “consider” this. The LITV translates consider as “set your heart”.

…………………

Some suggest that this day was the time of the conception of our Lord. That is possible, of course.

This day is the day before hanukkah.
